Helping humans and AI agents understand massive codebases
We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to join us in San Francisco.
You’ll be joining us as our second engineering hire and will be a member of the founding team. You’ll work on shipping major features from start to finish and will play a critical role in the future of Sourcebot.
You’ll own the design and development of new functionality through the entire process of speaking with users, architecting an implementation, shipping it, and getting feedback from engineering teams. Areas that you’ll be working on include:
Within the first few weeks of joining you’ll be able to solve real problems that will be released to engineering teams around the world.
We’re a small highly technical team that moves fast. We care deeply about the work we do, and we’re looking for someone who does as well. We’re looking for people who care about the craft of building software and shipping products that they’re proud of.
We’re not looking for experience in a specific tech stack. The entire team comes from the video game industry. Before starting Sourcebot, most us were shipping low-level C++ and building 3d graphics and network engines. We recognize that the most important quality of an engineer is strong foundational knowledge and the ability to solve hard problems.
Sourcebot is an open source code understanding platform for massive codebases. We’re used by thousands of engineers in some of the largest companies in the world, including Red Hat and Arista Networks.
Understanding code, not writing it, is the primary bottleneck for large engineering teams. For developers, this means onboarding onto complex codebases faster. For AI agents, it means getting the necessary code context to minimize hallucinations and maximize cohesion within the wider codebase.
